Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein was opened to the public in 1886, just seven weeks after King Ludwig II's death. The shy king had built the castle to seek refuge from the public – today, his refuge draws the public like a magnet.

The picturesque location is like no other. However, movements in the foundation must be monitored consistently and the steep cliffs must be reinforced on an ongoing basis. The rough climate is very hard on the limestone facades, to the effect that they, likewise, must be renovated constantly.

Built in an unmatched enchanting location by the King, Ludwig IInd of Bavaria, Schloss Neuschwanstein castle is one of the most popular European castles and palaces today.
