Fuessen in Bavaria
The streets of the old historical city of Fuessen, with its medieval atmosphere, provide the ideal opportunity to browse through the many, little shops and to discover the Bavarian culture.
Explore the original German “tracht” (lederhosen and dirndls) in one of the many shops. There is something for everyone of every age to see. Step into original market hall in the middle of town by the “Schrannenplatz,” or enjoy a hot cup of coffee or an ice cold original Bavarian wheat beer, by the city fountain with a beautiful view of the Fuessen castle. The Fuessen castle was the summer residence of the prince bishops of Augsburg. Today it has transformed into the town gallery with the state painting collection. Located slightly offside the castle is the Fuessen museum and the monastery St.Mang, the town church.
Close to the gates of Fuessen lays the dream of the royals, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, which tell the story of over 200 years of history. The story begins with the old romans, the Emperor Maximilian the first, and ends with the fairytale of our beloved King Ludwig the second.
Fuessen is always a trip worth taking.
